Ending the Year.......Updates

Image
I am finished with Murder in the Wind. I have also begun the narration process. As you can see, I chose Tom Briggs to be the narrator for this story. Even though he is much older than the MC, I thought he was a good fit. Murder in the Wind will be released on December 15, 2022. It is the final book for the year. The audio version should be done and ready for listeners in January 2023.  I have also finished editing Missing Through Time. I am now in the process of seeking for Beta Readers to help me work through the edits to improve the story. If you would like to read this book in order to bring out the flaws, please email me at a.r.grosjean@hotmail.com Thank you! Today, I began writing Escaping Her Past. I have some people waiting for this one lol. This book is Women's Fiction/Thriller. I hope I combine these two genres just right. I will be doing Nanowrimo this year. It's the first time I will write (not edit) in a few years in November. I can't believe the timing worked...

Updated Website

Image
My website has been updated again. I tend to do this daily or every other day because I write a lot. The Coming Soon page is always getting updated to show my new word count for the WIP (work in progress). As you can see at the top of the picture, pages have been added as well. If you hover over the menu, you will see even more pages! It keeps the menu clean when there are sub-pages. I love that feature. I hope to see you on the site. If you use the chat feature and I don't reply right away, please be patient. I do work part-time plus I may be tending to other things. I am busy, but I will reply as soon as I possibly can. You're important to me and I don't want to miss out. Do you have any questions about my books or behind-the-scenes? Ask and I will answer to the best of my ability. Thank you!!! https://argrosjeanauthor.wixsite.com/home

Why I write Multiple Genres under One Pen Name

Image
I have a lot of ideas in my head. A lot is probably saying it mildly. And I like the ideas. I don't have to turn down an idea by writing in multiple genres. I love that. But why do I write under one pen name? Let's break it down. Fantasy = pen name Romance = pen name Science Fiction = pen name Thriller = pen name Women's Fiction = pen name 2 books that are non-fiction = pen name Horror = pen name And I'm not even finished yet. I named off 7 genres already which would be 7 pen names. How would one person keep all of that straight? Yes, Fantasy and Science Fiction could be under one combined. And Thriller and Horror could be under one. That's still a lot to keep straight. That's a lot of websites to create for those pen names. Not to mention, all of the social networking times how many pen names I would have. If I did all of that, plus my job, I wouldn't have any time for my writing. I would rather spend the work on my writing, making my stories great for my...

More books in the future. Are you ready?

Image
The Identity Collection will consist of 4 books. Stolen and Mistaken are available now on Amazon. The narrator is working on Mistaken. I am using the same narrator I had to Stolen. Forgotten will have a different narrator because the MC is a woman. The only thing I know about Forgotten is that she witnessed a crime and then lost her memory. Her twin sister is the key. I haven't gotten far enough to figure out what Switched is about yet. I only thought up the title for it.  There will be more than 2 books in this series. But for now, this is what I have. I like how the two covers work together. The Adventures in the Milky Way is a spinoff from Peterson Estate so if you haven't read that series, now's the time because the first book in this series will be coming out soon! It is one of the 4 books waiting to be voted on in my website. The website can be found at:  https://argrosjeanauthor.wixsite.com/home And another series I'll be writing is called The Ghost Detective. ...

Goodbye March, Hello April. Updates

Image
So those are my series, so far. Peterson Estate has 7 books total and that series is complete. The Fairytale Adventures is an open-ended series because I haven't decided how many I will write for it yet. I'll be writing the 3rd book for the series pretty soon. I'm ahead of schedule so it could be written sooner than I had originally thought. I don't like taking breaks between books lol. The Identity Collection will have a total of 4 books in the "collection" unless I come up with other identity-type stories lol. I'm not really searching for any so I may just end up with the 4. And the World Bureau Legacy series is also an open-ended series. I included upcoming books in those series so you know what's coming next in the series. I still have to write those books lol. I believe I have more series than I have standalone books. Even Cursed Blood and Spawn of the Curse are sort of series (even though they weren't included here). So my standalone books ...

5 days to live? What would you do?

Image
If you were told you would die on Friday and today was Monday, what would you do? My answer? I would forget about the little things, spend as much time with my family as I could--my, kids, grandchildren, and husband. I would write a letter to each one of them and tell them how much they meant to me, to be opened after my death. I would explore new things. I would set things up so my earnings would go to an account shared by my family. I would live. I'm glad I don't have to think about this because I would freak out and probably panic. I would hope I would be strong during this time but I also know that I wouldn't be. Who could? So if you were given 5 days to live, what would you do?

Homelessness

Image
As someone who has experienced this, I can say a lot about homelessness. For one, no one really asks to become homeless. It is something that happens, sometimes more than once. It doesn't make a person less human. Living on the street isn't fun but one thing I did learn is that the homeless community looks out for each other. At least, that's what I experienced and witnessed. I met a lot of good people who struck some bad luck in their lives. Some are still on the streets while others were able to pick up their lives and return to society. I have watched people cross the street just to avoid going near someone who was homeless. I was able to ask some of them why they did that. One lady thought she'd get a disease from someone, another said he felt guilty about not being able to help, and another thought she'd catch being homeless. I had to keep from laughing on that one because it's not contagious. I think it was just an excuse but I didn't judge her. I pl...

Something I Failed. Funny Story

Image
I got my license to drive when I was 17 years old. It took the extra time to get it because I needed to learn parallel parking and backing up a little more. I did take driver's Ed so that helped. After I got the license, my aunt swore I needed to learn how to drive a stick. She claimed that all cars would eventually be made in a stick so I would have to know how to drive one. We spent a whole day with me behind the wheel. I was not hand-foot coordinated enough to get the car into gear so the engine kept stalling. She didn't want me to fry the engine so we stopped. She claimed I would never drive again, once those vehicles turned to stick and automatics stopped being made. I laughed to myself. A little while later, my older sister tried teaching me. I guess my aunt had a talk with her. My sister's boyfriend (they later got married) had a small car with a stick so it was smaller than my aunt's truck. It was more my size. My sister was actually nice to me during this attem...

Beta Readers needed + Updates

Image
This YA Romance is finished! I am now seeking Beta Readers to help finish off the edits. Before edits, I had 39,658 words. After editing, I now have 44K even. I still have to add the back matter to the story (bio and list of published books), but that can be done when I'm finished. Do you like wholesome romance? Here's the blurb:  Sarah met the man of her dreams. The only problem is he's dating her sister. Julie isn't right for Eric. She will break his heart. Sarah will be there when she does. Will Sarah have her happily ever after? Or will Julie ruin Sarah's chance at love?   This book is planned for release at the end of April so we have the full month to get through these edits and part of April. I'm thinking the last week of April, not sure the day yet. So email me at a.r.grosjean@hotmail.com if you would like to be a Beta Reader. Thank you, so very much!!! Update I learned that the feature for creating shadows that give a "glow" also works for ima...

Learned Something New in PSP

Image
I'm still learning how to do this, but now I can make my letters glow. It will help when I'm creating the effect. At least in the font. Now if I can learn how to do this with images lol. When you're creating your own covers it helps to know what you're doing. YouTube can get you part of the way. Practice can help. I just can't give up on this. And you shouldn't either. Keep watching how-to videos and ask around. Finding people with the same programs as you who has the time to show you step-by-step is beneficial. Plus you can gain new friendships. Keep learning! This is how I created this. 1. Open a blank window. I used a black background. 2. Created a new layer. 3. I typed my name with white letters using Italiana font. 4. Created a new layer. 5. Typed the name again and made sure they were lined up as perfect as I could get them. 6. On the top layer, I opened effects and chose 3D Effects, then chose cutout. A window popped up. I used white. 7. I went to the fi...

Introducing Murder in the Wind

Image
Detective James has a murder mystery to solve. When a witness comes forward, revealing the murderer, he must make a choice. Turn the murderer in or run from the law. What will he do? Can he handle the truth or will the truth destroy him and his career? This will be my first detective story. I used to love watching this type of TV show growing up. I would try to solve the case before the detectives did. And it was so much fun. Now I get to write the story. This is one that's been with me for a while. It's on the list to be written next year and I can hardly wait to get to it! I can't tell you how I came up with this idea without revealing a secret in the story so I won't share that tidbit lol. When creating the cover for the book, I searched Amazon's best-sellers list and found these two covers to use for inspiration. I really liked the one on the left so that was the one I focused on. It's not an exact match, but I think it works rather well. I've already ...

Write A Book Checklist

Image
Are you planning on writing a book? Don't want to forget something? Make a checklist and cross things off as you finish them. When you're finished writing the book, everything should be crossed off the list. Here are some ideas to get you started. Feel free to add to the list..... Ask yourself...."Will I outline or wing it?" If you're going to outline it, make sure you include all the details you can think of. You can always go back and add more as the details come to you. What is the story about? The idea of the story. Some people start with the plot, some people start with the character. You need both but it doesn't matter which comes first. The story's theme. Setting Use active voice (this can be used for the editing process) What are the repetitive words? Can they be omitted or is another word better? (Use during editing). Characters. You can make a new checklist for that. Create a character bio sheet (there are many online to choose from or create y...

How I began my Writing Journey

Image
I was 11 years old when the idea of writing a story popped into my head and I wasn't even trying to come up with a story. Here's how it began........ I lived in Monroe, Indiana on a small farm that was own by my maternal grandparents. At the time, my uncle lived in North Webster. It was in the summer. My grandparents, little sister, and I took the drive up to North Webster to visit my uncle. My sister and I knew it would be a long trip because my grandfather drove slowly and he enjoyed the scenic routes, so we took a lot of paper and coloring pens and pencils to draw with during the trip. On the way home, I was staring at the clouds thinking of something to draw when something else popped into my head instead--an idea of a story. The story was about a little boy named Norman who died and went to the wrong part of Heaven. He was being chased by some bad guys during his journey to reach the right part of Heaven. Thinking back to that day, I have no idea why I thought there would ...

The 2022 Line-Up!

Image
Peterson Estate is the only cover that is officially done. The remaining covers still have some minor tweaking to do, but here they are as of today! I want to thank everyone who voted for the 4th book I'll be writing this year. I ended up changing the title, but it works. Once the line-up for 2023 is finished, I'll be sharing those as well. At least the 3 that I have before votes can be made. Still working on those covers. So far, my husband's favorite design is Home. It's really cool that he likes that one the best because it just feels right and for it to be favored is totally awesome! Of the 14+4 of the new covers, which one is your favorite? Any reason? So far, only 3 of these covers were designed by someone else. I think I'm getting better at creating these covers. I'm even working on some Hardbound covers. Home will be the first book that will be available as Hardbound as well as Paperback and ebook. I'm super excited about that. The cover will be sli...

The Final Book is Coming Soon!

Image
I never thought I would actually end this series. I remember watching Charmed and feeling disappointed when that series ended. I was mad, actually. I wanted the story to keep going so I could enjoy the story more. But, I guess all good things must come to an end. But in this case, it really isn't the end, because a new series will begin almost where this one ends! The date hasn't been set for Adventures in The Milky Way yet but it will come. Emily Peterson has come a very long way from the young adult that she was in the beginning. She knew nothing of who she truly was or what she was even capable of. Emily thought she was a normal young woman who came from a normal family with problems. Her parents were divorced and her sister lived with their dad. She wasn't even able to meet her face-to-face although she'd spoken to her over the phone. She just thought her dad was a bad guy. That's putting it mildly. What she didn't know was that her world was going to be tu...
