Life During the Pandemic...

Image
A lot of us are stuck at home. Places are shutting down to keep us at home. Places like Walmart and Meijer (here in Fort Wayne, anyway) are staying busy. From the looks of the parking lots, nothing has changed. But when you go inside, there is a lot of change... The change? What normally stays full is bare. Eggs--gone. Toilet paper--gone. Pasta--almost gone. Milk--depending on which store, gone. People are using their entire paychecks on food and paper products. The stores that have a department store and grocery store together are pulling their employees from the department store section to cover the grocery side which means shelves are going empty in those areas as well because no one is maintaining them.  So while we are stuck at home, let's make the best of it which is why I'm posting this blog today. In the first picture, I shared what I did the other day with the living room. This is what it looked like before that... I get to the point where I NE...

In the local news

Image
It's not just here, but everywhere. People are getting so scared that things are flying off the shelves. Toilet paper is just one of the many things. I'm just down the street from one Walmart and there's no toilet paper. They get an order in and they don't even have time to get it on the shelves. People are just grabbing it off the pallets. It's not even funny. People are getting hurt. The news doesn't help. You have one person who says continue life as you normally would. Then another person says stock up and stay home. Then you hear the President say one day that it's no big deal. The next day, he's saying they should stock up. So who are you supposed to believe? It's frustrating because you don't know if you're supposed to wait it out or go like nothing's happening. Some people think it's no big deal and others say it's the end of the world.  I don't know what to think. I just don't want to get sick. Right now I...

The Fifth book in the series is finally written!

Image
Sometimes daydreaming can pay off. And that's why my head is always in the clouds--because I'm dreaming up new ideas and twists to add to my stories. Of course, sometimes those twists come out of nowhere and I'm left feeling stunned. The MC let it slip how she wanted the ending to come about and when I finally reached that ending, it was much better than she led me to believe. I'm sitting there, feeling OMG what an ending. The best part, it's not really the end. Just like all the books before this one, it's "to be continued" but I left a different kind of cliff hanger and it's beautiful. So fitting. So does Emily finally escape Hell? I'm not going to tell you lol. So now, the real fun begins and I start on editing the story. I need to fill in a few areas, add more details, etc. I haven't reached my word-count goal but I always add more in the editing process so I'm still not worried that it will end up being a novel like the oth...

Hell Bound, Book 5 in the Peterson Estate series

Image
Excerpt so far....      Emily elevated, floating through the ceiling. She had to follow the boundary of the Down Under so she could see if there was a weak spot. If she could find one, that would be her way in. She knew it. If she couldn’t walk through those gates, she was going to tear through a wall. Since she knew he had found the opening to the Vortex, she knew it wouldn’t take him long to figure out how to open it so she was running out of time and she knew it.      She inspected every angle she could find, every crack and every rock was checked twice. Emily placed her hands on the rocks that built the walls around the large void. She tried to feel the energy, get to know it. She tried spell after spell to weaken the symbols meant for good. She tried removing them. Even the areas that were weak wouldn’t budge.      Emily could not find an opening so she assumed there would have only been one that was weak enough to punch thr...

A New Project (not writing)

Image
I'm not just a writer, in case you haven't noticed. One of the pastimes that keeps me busy is crocheting. I don't normally make blankets but I wanted to make each of my grandchildren one to have. One when they are born and one when they get older for their beds. This one is just a part of one I'm making for Emily who is due in May. She's my fourth grandchild. Once I found out the gender, I bought the yarn for it. I am trying something new for her. I made one block, then joining it to another block in the same pattern. This is as far as I've gotten so far but there are 4 blocks total to represent 4 grandchildren. I'll be taking another picture once it's all done and include it for one of my newsletters. I do that from time-to-time lol. I enjoy making clothes and will be getting back to doing that eventually lol. Right now, I'm just enjoying doing the "grandma" thing. Or should I say, "Nana" as I'm called! Grandchild ...

Me, in a nutshell

Image
Hey world, that's me. My name is Amber and I write full time. I've always felt like writing chose me. I feel at home when I'm putting a story together. The adventure I have can't be put into words. Crazy, right? A writer who can't put something into words? It's true. Sometimes, I really don't know where things come from. It's like I have all these people living in my head whispering to me to say this or write that. I know I'm not crazy. I know it's my imagination. And that's fine, I'm happy with it. The way I see it is that I'll never get bored which I don't lol. So what's my point with this blog? I wanted to share who I am in a nutshell. Show you why I'm the perfect author for the books I write.  First of all, I know I'm weird. It does not run in my family but neither does being left-handed so that's all good. You may not know this but I was bullied growing up. I was alone. And I did attempt suici...

Counting down the days

Image
I am counting down the days for two reasons! The first one will be coming sooner than the second one. First, my third grandchild will be coming so I am super excited about that. My youngest baby is expecting her first baby. Jessica Unique will be here in less than 2 weeks! It could be sooner than 1 week. I'm not getting my hopes up lol. I'm just saying. Every time I see my daughter, I can't help myself, I gotta rub her belly and send Jessica kisses. Is that weird? If it's weird, I don't care lol. My first grandchild is super excited too. It's just so cute seeing her kiss her belly. This is her first cousin and she's calling her, her baby. It's just too adorable! Okay, so the second thing I'm counting down is the release for The Dead Life. I have updated the cover too. The spine was too small so I had to make adjustments and then I accidentally altered the color and I loved it! It's a little darker so the paperback will be slightly di...
